The remit of EUUS-SAFEFOOD will be focussed to encompass zoonotic pathogens (bacteria, viruses and parasites), selected on the basis of relative risk to transatlantic food safety, within the pre-harvest phase of the food chain.

Within this remit the joint network will work in four thematic areas:

• Microbial Ecology

• Epidemiology

• Detection and surveillance

• Control and intervention
